The Burnished Pixel exists simply to display the different media and crafts I’ve created over the years. I will be exhibiting over a decade of film and digital photography, video content, wood and metal working, custom raspberryPI builds, etc.
This cover photo is semi-significant in the evolution of my media creation that lead to me building The Burnished Pixel:
In 2012 I had around $8k in digital photo gear stolen, 2 hard drive failures, and with no insurance I pretty much gave up on any sort of serious photography or media career. A year or so later, I finally gave in and purchased a $50 manual focus 35mm SLR and got back to shooting. This was the first image that I captured that I actually liked.
It was shot on a Canon AE-1 and ‘nifty fifty’ 50mm lens right in front of my apartment building in Greenwood; sometime around mid 2013. Since then I’ve been shooting on all kinds of equipment EXCEPT a DSLR:
Canon AE-1
Olympus OM-10
Minolta X-700 (x 4 bodies now, whoops)
GoPro x 3
DJI Mavic Pro and now Mavic 2 pro
Then, in 2019, I was able to recover hard drives with 11,000+ images from the last decade that I wasn’t expecting to see ever again. SUCH a happy moment.
Around that time, I finally dropped in and purchased a new DSLR system, the Sony a7iii. I couldn’t be more excited about a camera. After just one photo/video project, I realized I had to build something to display all of my media.
Thus, The Burnished Pixel was born.
Welcome.
